THE MYSTERY OF THE MISSING MATRON, 2008 Written and directed by Chelsea Spear Starring Antonia Pugliese, Jeff Landale, and Donna Baden On a hot July afternoon, teen sleuth Wendy Strong seems to have exhausted all the leads in the disappearance of beloved community leader Mrs. Augustine. Could a gift from her boyfriend Eddie give Wendy a surprise break in the case? This loving tribute to mid-century teen sleuth Nancy Drew was made for Lumen Eclipse's first annual LE:60 One Minute Film Festival. Director Chelsea Spear made the film in the "photo roman" style pioneered by director Chris Marker in his influential short film "La Jetee". It was shot on location at the Elizabeth Peabody Theatre in Somerville and at exterior locations in Gloucester that were made famous by Edward Hopper. |
